Inauguration of the marble sculpture «Civil Courage» by the mayor of Potsdam, the Minister of Science, Research and Culture in Brandenburg, the Armenian ambassador to Germany, the represantative of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg, and the publicist Rolf Hosfeld in Potsdam. The sculpture memorializes Johannes Lepsius, and “it symbolizes the commitment to civil action against genocide and war crimes.” (Jan Jacobs, mayor of Potsdam). The sculpture was placed in the parc of the Lepsius Villa in Potsdam, in the former military zone No. 7 where the KGB was based in the GDR, in the present area of the Prussian Palaces and Gardens Foundation Berlin-Brandenburg, located amidst the UNESCO world heritage Berlin-Brandenburg, between a former KGB-prison, the parc Neue Garten with the castle Cecilienhof where the Potsdam Conference was held in August 1945, the Belvedere of Sanssouci castle and the Villa Henkel.
